What does the H.E. in HETECH stand for?
OF late, the Hetech team have been often questioned… what does the H.E. stand for in HETech? We’ve heard a number of possible guesses about what it could be, so we thought what better time than our 25th year in business than to decrypt these letters and pay homage to our founders Hegge and Edington.
Let’s start at the very beginning; it’s a very good place to start. The year was 1991, when three people identified an opportunity to specialise in the provision of custom design and development of electronics and technology. Those people were Kjell Hegge, Doug and David Edington, from which the name HETech or HE Technologies was born.
The initial concept for the company was to provide custom design and development services to customers who found the need to replace imported technology, further enhance existing products or create entirely new products. Kjell was an expert in this field, and paired with Doug and David’s business expertise, Hetech rapidly grew from only undertaking design services to bringing production and manufacture facilities in house.
By 2001, Managing Director Mark Steiner had joined Hetech, bringing a focus on company and revenue growth and was the driving force behind the creation of our sister company, TecHome.
Fast forward 25 years, Hetech is now a booming company with over 25 employees and a number of successful projects under our belt, the creation of TecHome, and the relocation to our state of the art 800m2 facility at Underwood. We have grown to now provide customers with complete in-house design to manufacture process, as well as industrial design and technical services.
From humble beginnings in the early 90’s to today, technology has changed immensely, but HETech’s philosophy to provide our customers with mutually beneficial partnerships hasn’t, which is why we live by our motto- ‘your product development and manufacturing partner’.
