Factory Tour & Breakfast Recap

Last week, Hetech welcomed customers, partners and industry guests to our Underwood facility for a rare behind-the-scenes look at the people, technology and processes behind our operations.

The event was a valuable opportunity to share the work we are proud of and give guests a closer look at Australian electronics manufacturing in action, following the journey from bare circuit boards through to fully assembled and tested systems.

The response exceeded our expectations and due to the demand for the tour we extended our capacity to accommodate additional guests. We were especially pleased to host several interstate visitors, including some who flew in just for the day. To help make the morning as seamless as possible, a dedicated bus transfer was also arranged to transport guests from the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre.

Despite the rainy weather, the atmosphere throughout the morning was incredibly positive and we loved seeing so many engaged, curious and smiling faces so early in the morning.

To ensure a smooth and engaging experience, attendees were divided into three smaller groups that rotated throughout a series of tour stations across the facility. While one group explored the production floor, the remaining guests enjoyed breakfast and coffee before continuing through the tour.

Tour Stations

Guests rotated through a series of stations across the facility, experiencing key areas of Hetech’s manufacturing operations:

• Station 1: Through Hole Assembly– This first station showed how electronic components are inserted and soldered onto PCBs to create strong, reliable connections for demanding applications.
• Station 2: Quality Inspection– Here we showcased how assemblies are inspected using microscopes to ensure precision, reliability, and compliance with our strict quality standards.
• Stations 3-5: Complete Projects– These stations showcased innovative technologies manufactured by Hetech, highlighting how we support advanced solutions from development through to full-scale production. Projects included:
  • Decoda’s RockAware™ mining safety system
  • BIA5’s Tactical Initiated Lighting System (TILS)
  • CSIRO & Quantum’s Longwall Automation System (LASC)
• Station 6: Surface Mount Technology (SMT)– We showcased our SMT production line, demonstrating how electronic components are mounted directly onto PCBs to enable efficient, compact, and high-volume manufacturing.
• Station 7: Conformal Coating– This station showed the application of protective conformal coatings to PCBs to shield components from moisture, dust, chemicals and harsh environments.
• Station 8: TecHome– The final station featured TecHome, a division of Hetech, and its motion and automation solutions, including wireless linear actuators and remote control systems for industrial and domestic applications.
